May the Circle be Unbroken

There’s a buzz from the Bat Cave.  We have a new name to throw into the hat for the House seat… or the prospect of a new name that is all but sealed.

Seems as though the King and his court ain’t real pleased with the hand he and the party have been dealt with respect to a GOP gun to face down Carney.  Well, not face down – there are a number of those bodies to please – but a playa.  A legitimate playa (or close) along the lines of the dearly departed Copeland and Wedo who actually has the name recognition and $$$ to be seriously serious.

We hear it’s a person with all the aforementioned.  We hear names… name, if you will.  Tease we shall.

But we will say this:  Fleming and Castle have made a move to bring in some help.  Perhaps putting a red stripe on the mark.

    It it’s Castle’s choice I’d say 1) Laird 2) on of the remaining Carpenter’s 3) Andy DiSabantino

Castle talked with a friend of mine Saturday and all but confirmed they do have someone. My senior partner says it’s Michelle Rollins. Has to be as there’s no one else left. The GOP hasn’t groomed anyone in 25 years. Then again if it is does she drop Byrdie and Mary Davis as her Democratic lobbyists in Leg Hall for protecting Dover Downs from the nefarious Schell brothers and their casino plans in Sussex? Or do Byrdie and Mary max to both she and John which is also known as the Delaware Way. An even better question is does Roger Roy, former GOP state representative, whose wife has had a great series of jobs, who also became a Democrat to vote for John or Jack, and whose shilling for the Schell’s give to both of them as well? If so the Delaware Way has been big time expanded.

In addition do the unions go after her for keeping Dover Downs non union; then again Jeff Gordon might come do a fundraiser for her at….Dover Downs. Get my red DuPont 24 jacket out for that!

And what will the conservatives do for she’s pro-choice and Urqhart is pro-life. Nicole Theis, wearer of the rather sexy haircut, isn’t likely to cotton to some rich, well dressed, pro-choice woman running for Congress when she and her Family Policy Council have selected Glen U who was part of the Reagan era and seems to be a nice guy with some serious coin of his own to spread. Look for a conservative revolt perhaps? After all Jim Dobson has a decent size email list here in DE. Those conservative churches do pack them in. There’s one by me off 896 – oh my word – it’s HUGE. Our little Methodist church off Salem Church Road has about 120 people where as this other one looks like it holds thousand’s.

Mark my words the Delaware Family Policy Council is looking to be a player this time and Mrs. Theis and her sexy hair are doing their best to have a seat at the GOP table.

Then again Urqhart has been promised help from the RNCC but Michelle has been a big giver to the RNC so maybe the RNCC owes her versus him?

Here we go again. Another battle brewing at the beach come convention. I just may not be a delegate this year. Been there and done that.
Then again the wife will want to hit the outlets so maybe I will. Then again maybe The Judge and I will hit the Starboard and hang out as they call the roll and call the roll and call the roll.

Another factor is will this create a sympathy surge for O’Donnell? The pro-lifers can hold their nose for Castle but to have Urqhart unceremoniously shoved aside 9 weeks before convention when he has 5 people on staff already and took 1/2 of the GOP royalty in New Castle County to lunch may be a bit much to swallow causing a backlash for the King. As a result these guys may try to deny The King his 60% needed at convention for the endorsement. Then again Michelle has banging shrimp at her parties. The Thriftway by me has never had shrimp like we had at Michelle’s. Very impressive. Then again how many Family Policy Council members have had shrimp at Walnut Green, Michelle’s home? I’m guessing none.

This is like 6 degrees of separation quadrupled.

John will look good as he’s sworn in. He won’t do anything but be a Pelosi doll but he will look good and the GOP will have squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity to keep the King’s seat.

    What a legacy.

What happened to Copeland by the way?

  3. Workout Guy Says:

The question remains can John be enough of a blue collar kid from Claymont to overcome Michelle’s or Glen or Charlie’s checkbook? Yes, Charlie is still interested.

If John can play the working class Joe he’ll be fine. But if the incumbent hat gets put on him he’s in trouble assuming the GOP doesn’t do a Cloutier – Rochford 1992 brawl at Dewey where both sides left so pissed off that there is still enmity today. Will never forget Myrna Bair telling GOP volunteers at the polls in Claymont to pass out Carney stuff in 2000, some 8 years later.

This is living proof an elephant never forgets.

  4. Polemical Says:

Since when did being Lt. Gov for Ocho anos mean one is qualified to be a congressman? Especially a Lt. Gov for Senorita Minner! The VPOTUS was overheard off-microphone at the HC Summit mtg. on Feb. 25th saying: “It’s easy being the VP. You don’t have to do anything.” The Gaffemeister himself admits the pageantry of the whole second-in-command thingy as mere office candy. Hence, Senor Carney need only comb his hair and ’stache’…does he even have one anymore?…and he becomes the Prince? The Tom Sellack (sp?) look is about as relevant as Robert Byrd is to Twitter. Vaya con Dios!

  5. Downtown Lawyer Says:

Is the 70’s stache gone? It was becoming iconic I thought.

  6. RedStripe? Says:

The Red Stripe comment at the end has to means it is Rollins. It’s the beer of Jamaica, and she owns the Ritz there.

  7. Skadden Says:

Rollins would be GREAT! She’s lovely, classy, intelligence, charming, influential and most importantly, a self-funder.

  8. Downtown Lawyer Says:

    Go girl go! I guess.

  9. Downtown Lawyer Says:

When I was there it was called Rose Hall. Did it change hands?

  10. Downtown Lawyer Says:

Rachel Ray giftcards are on here?

  11. Couching Says:

You guys had this before the News Journal? You have to be republicans. Everybody was trying to figure it out Sunday night and you knew it and dropped the damn Red Stripe “Jamaica” picture right under our noses. Going to start reading your stuff with a microscope in the future. Go Michelle, DE GOPs only hope.

  12. Couching Says:

BTW its Rose Hall AND Ritz:

  16. Registered Independent Says:

GOP tactics are so transparent. This is the GOP trying to deflect headlines on the day the Christine O’Donnell is making her announcement. It’s no coincidence that a powerful woman is “thinking about running” and stealing the news.
Charlie Copeland did the very same thing the day that Wedo’s incriminating email hit the air. Charlie went on the radio and announced that he is “sorta-kinda” thinking about running. Charlie had no intention of running, and I suspect Michele has no intention of running either. The GOP is blowing smoke.

  17. anon Says:

… and Delaware asks: Who the hell is Michelle Rollins?

Grapevine says she has a statewide presence thanks to her husband. Who died 10 years ago. Yeah … that’s great name recognition.

So she’s rich. Whoop-dee-doo. That seems to be the GOP’s criteria.

And owning a Jamaician resort thingy? Yeah!!! Go, girl! Employ those black maids and housekeepers and cooks. Great way to connect with black Delaware voters.

  18. Que Pasa Says:

    Anon,

So John Carney was a do nothing Lt. Gov under Ruth Ann for 8 years, whoop-dee-doo!

Running a business, a multi-million dollar business at that, takes more brains, competence and where-with-all than does lounging around as Lt. Gov.

Hmm…and what’s with the anti-rich rhetoric? Last I checked, some of the wealthiest members of Congress are Democrats (Kerry, Feinstein, Kohl, Rockefeller, Pelosi) are you going to slander them too?

  19. Max Says:

Looks like the Delaware GOP has a big time Cat Fight. Michele Rollins vs. Rose Izzo. The top billing Primary Election Bout of the year. “First State battle for First Woman to Congress” or
Money Bags (Rollins) vs. NRA Rosie (Izzo)
Miss Spender (Rollins) vs. Miss Saver (Izzo)
Miss 1963 beauty queen (Rollins) vs. Miss Conservative 2010 (Izzo)

Or the best Tag Team event of All Time
    Castle/Rollins vs. O’Donnell/Izzo

Old & Crusty vs. Two Hot Mommas
The Earmark Duo vs. The No Backroom Deal Twins
Cap & Trade vs. Cagney and Lacey
    Rich & Richer vs. ShopRite & Save-A-lot
