Well, it is official. Charles Copeland has opted to pass on a run at Congress. This decision made late yesterday afternoon, and for many of the reasons chronicled here for weeks, now gives clarity – at least a lil more – to a crowded field long being held hostage at the enigmatic presence of two eminent, popular and well funded political personalities; Charles Copeland and Anthony Wedo.
While we fully expect an affirmative announcement from the Wedo camp stat, this proclamation by Charlie has come as a surprise – at least to some – to those who know Charlie or where hopeful that Mike Castles own man would take the baton and Challenge John Carney in November. Even our own Madam LeRue stood in stoic disbelief as she had called for a mammoth battle between He and Wedo. “This obviously comes as a surprise to me”, said the dismayed but unflappable clairvoyant. “And while disappointed, I wish Charles well in his future endeavors. I will tell you all though, that he shall return to lead this state”.
We too, wish Mr. Charles L. Copeland well and look with great anticipation to his run at the Governorship. His persona and fight will be missed in this primary.
A feature on Charlie and this decision will ensue. But in the meantime we give Charlie his space and our respect.

We need a female. When was the last time a female was in a position of power in Del? Jane or Janet? Debbie Hudson should step up, she knows how to work a room! On a side note, Charlie needs to work out a little.

At lunch today I was told that the GOP establishment is on life support.
Copeland said no 2nd loss for me and Wedo is too independent, so they’re left between Wade who has the double secret society running his campaign or Cullis who is doing nothing except hanging out with the 9-12er’s. (How come I don’t know any 9-12ers. Are they like the Mason’s and all where it’s secretive and you look at the eye on the dollar bill and read Dan Brown?) or Glen Urqhart from Sussex who makes Christine O’Donnell look moderate and savvy. He worked for Reagan 26 years ago. I was getting drunk at UVA 26 years ago. Big deal.
The quarterback will waltz in and stay there for 20 years.
When I get my Vicmead invitation this year it gets return with no check.
An open seat in a GOP year and this who are the candidates are?

Tony is a self made farm boy. I have yet to meet a farmer who isn’t independent and he is new to DE.
Asked my D neighbor whose been unemployed for 16 if he cared that Tony is new?
NO was the answer. Can he get me a job was the next comment.

Does the GOP do the nomination like Democrats?
February 15th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
The D’s do not have a “nominating” convention, they just get together and hang out and get drunk and get even more drunk. The drink so much because they have been winning. They are also extremely organized and in lockstep.
The Republicans do have a “nominating” convention. They fight, bicker and threaten. They also get drunk because they have been losing and losing. They are very disorganized and don’t march together ever.
As an attorney it is obvious which type of convention works better. With the GOP if the loser at convention wants to primary they do so. Phil Cloutier lost at Convention and beat Denny Rochford in the Primary. Bill Lee lost at convention at lost to John Burris by 34 votes in the Primary.

They should have a drinkoff, tequila, he who is left standing gets the nomination.

Works for me.
One other note with the GOP if there’s contested race the trick is to avoid a vote ntil after lunch when many delegates go home. They’re tired from those awful metal chairs, they’re hung over, they’re dehydrated and they’re sick of speeches.
That was how Jane Brady pulled it off in 94 over Steve Walther and Larry Sullivan. Every time they’d start the vote her people would leave causing a qourum not to be available. Come lunch time people go outside and feel the warm air at the beach. SO do you go back in to warm stuffy hall or the beach?
John Carney is already getting fitted for his swearing in suit.

My kids and I were driving through the state the other day and started playing the game “Where’s Wedo?”. We couldn’t find him. We looked upstate we looked downstate we looked in Middletown we couldn’t find him. We saw a guy in a red and green scarf but it wasn’t Wedo.
So it begs the question… where’s Wedo?
February 16th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Is this like where’s Waldo?
What on does a red and green scarp have to do with Tony Wedo?
Did John Daniello put you up to this?
